Support to Spouse & Children
Language Courses
The University offers subsidised courses in Chinese (either Cantonese or Mandarin) for staff and their spouses. Courses would focus on the spoken language, particularly daily conversations. Application and enquiries could be directed to the Chinese Language Centre. Click here to learn more details.
Vaccination Schemes for Children
In general, there is no restriction on vaccination for school admission. However, the Department of Health recommends children to participate in the Hong Kong Childhood Immunisation Programme (HKCIP) which provides free immunisations to children. More details could be found here.
The University Health Service (UHS) provides some childhood immunisation at cost. Enquiries could be directed to the UHS at uhealth@hku.hk or (852) 3917 2506.
Active Kids Sports Club
The Active Kids Sports Club is located in the Stanley Ho Sports Centre. It offers a wide range of fun and enjoyable sports activities for kids from 16 months to 16 years old, including soccer, tennis, basketball, sports climbing and swimming during the school terms and holidays. Check out the schedules of different sports courses here.
Spouse and dependent children of full-time and fractional HKU staff are eligible to apply for the Facilities Access Card (FAC), which allows them to access sports facilities in the University. To apply for the FAC, please complete the online CSE form. Should you have any enquiries, please contact CSE colleagues at csehku@hku.hk.
