School Fees

Since international schools are privately run, their school fees are significantly higher and may charge additional fees. You are recommended to read the terms and conditions of these additional fees on respective schools’ websites. Find out the breakdown of education fees of ESF/ international schools below:

Starting Costs
  • Application fee (usually non-refundable)
  • Assessment fee (usually non-refundable)
  • Deposit (charged when you accept a placement)
Debenture (also called Nomination Rights/ Capital Notes)
  • A one-off advance payment
  • Mandatory/ optional; may be refundable
  • The amount is calculated per student and may vary enormously across schools
  • Buying an individual nomination right before admissions may help to gain interview priority (one nomination for one child at a time), but does not guarantee a place
  • Debentures will be used to finance schools’ capital projects
Capital Levy
  • An alternative to debenture
  • For financing the school’s capital projects
  • One-off/ yearly payments
  • Usually non-refundable
Annual Tuition
  • Can start at around HK$100,000 for primary school and cost up to HK$250,000 for secondary school
  • May offer a discount to the third and subsequent child(ren) in a family
  • May cover textbooks/ excursions fees etc.
Other Costs
  • Extra-curricular activities, school bus, uniforms, school trips, e-learning devices, textbooks and lunch etc.
